The machine turns on normally, and rewinds properly. Playback functions, but no sound is heard. However the speaker rustles and rumbles softly, so the amplifier seems to work.
Fast forward functions very softly.
Due to described problems, this unit is explicitly sold "as is" as a restoration item or for parts.
