Akai M-9 First Transistor Tape Recorder
Offered is a 4 track Akai M-9 first transistor Tape Recorder.
This machine has been tested fairly thoroughly. From this test a demo video is available which can be played below.
Unit turns on normally and fast forward and rewind function normally.
2 Lights of VU meters defective.
Tape counter works.
Playback does not function. The pinch roller does not come up against the shaft properly, so the machine runs at full speed. Also the VU meter of the left channel flies to the right and stays there.
Recording, on the other hand, mechanically does work normally. The left VU meter returns, and the the machine runs decently at speed.
Possibly one of the ZAMAC command parts is no longer intact. This is a common problem with these machines, but it has not been checked by us.
We have a reliable, 3D printed replacement set of these ZAMAC parts available in our web shop.
