Akai X-201D 4Track Auto-Reverse Tape Recorder
Offered is an Akai X-201D 4-track Auto-Reverse Tape Recorder.
This machine has been tested to function, and is mechanically 95% functional.
All mechanical functions, such as playback back and forth, and fast forward and rewind, work normally with a few minor quirks:
- The motor sounds audibly loud at 19cm/s.
- When fast forwarding, the tape counter "screeches".
- It seemed like a slight "flutter" could be heard in the music, but I wasn't sure about that.
Playback worked on both channels, and so did recording. The recording quality was fine to listen to.
The track switch is clearly oxidized and creaks when operated.
The VU light are on and counter also works.

Because of the problems described and because this is an unrefurbished unit at age, to avoid disappointment, this tape recorder is preferably sold "as is" as a restoration item for tinkerers and enthusiasts!
