Offered is a black Akai 4000DS MK-II 4-track Tape Recorder.
This machine has been tested to function, and is mechanically 99% functional.
All mechanical functions, such as playback, and fast forward and rewind, work normally. When rewinding forward, the brake could be adjusted a little tighter.
Also seemed to hear a slight "flutter" in the music, but I wasn't sure about that.
Playback worked on both channels, and so did recording. The recording quality was fine to listen to.
The track switch is clearly oxidized and creaks when operated, as well as the tape/source switch.
The VU light are on and counter also works.
Of the test is a demo video made which can be viewed below.
Because of the problems described and because this is an unrefurbished unit at age, to avoid disappointment, this tape recorder is preferably sold "as is" as a restoration item for tinkerers and enthusiasts!
Many photos document well the optical condition.
Delivery as shown on the pictures, without further accessories!
